In the next edition of our “Professional Progression” series, we are excited to share Jordan’s journey so far at professional.
Before joining Professional Security, I was working in hospitality in the Chester area. I enjoyed the fast-paced nature of the industry but was looking for a new career path that still aligned with my skills and experience.
An opportunity arose through Lenny Cunningham, one of our current Heads of Operations, who introduced me to the role. Moving into security felt like a natural transition, as it operates closely alongside hospitality. The industry appealed to me because it offered a fresh challenge while still allowing me to work with people and manage operational aspects that I was already familiar with.
As the Operations Manager for the Northwest of England, I oversee the region alongside three highly successful Area Managers. My role is dynamic and ever-changing, but it revolves around three key responsibilities:
Client Satisfaction: Maintaining strong relationships with our clients is crucial. I ensure our service meets and exceeds expectations by prioritising communication, delivering quality results, and demonstrating why we stand out from our competitors.
Door Supervisor Recruitment: Our frontline staff are the face of Professional Security. Without a strong and skilled team, we wouldn’t be able to maintain our high standards. I’m actively involved in recruiting and developing door supervisors to ensure we meet our clients’ needs.
Business Growth & Development: Expanding our presence in the Northwest is an exciting part of my role. I focus on securing new business opportunities, whether through networking, word-of-mouth recommendations, or showcasing the excellence of our existing teams to potential clients.
Yes, one of the things that stood out when I joined Professional Security was the clear progression path available for those looking to grow within the company. There is always room for development, and we have a range of new processes and training programs to help team members learn, upskill, and move into leadership roles. It’s encouraging to work in an environment where career growth is genuinely supported.
One of the things I enjoy most is the diversity of my work schedule. No two weeks are ever the same! One week, I could be in Blackpool and Liverpool, and the next, I might be working with clients in Manchester and Stoke.
This role has allowed me to explore different locations, meet a variety of people, and work alongside clients from all walks of life. The variety keeps things fresh and exciting, and I thrive in an environment where no two days are identical.
The best piece of career advice I’ve received is to always build strong relationships.
No matter what industry you’re in, the connections you make can open doors, provide support, and help you navigate challenges along the way. Having a strong network of colleagues, clients, and mentors can make a significant difference in your professional journey.
Frontline work is an incredible foundation for a career in security. It helps you develop confidence, social skills, and problem-solving abilities, all of which are crucial for career advancement. My advice would be to:
Embrace the role: Every shift is an opportunity to learn and improve your skills.
Communicate effectively: Strong communication is key to both client satisfaction and teamwork.
Show initiative: Demonstrating a proactive attitude will set you apart and increase opportunities for progression.
If you’re looking to take the next step, don’t be afraid to ask for guidance, seek out training opportunities, and put yourself forward for new challenges.
A surprising fact about me is that I am a blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu!
Training in martial arts has helped me develop discipline, resilience, and strategic thinking, all of which have been valuable skills in my career. Plus, it’s a great way to stay active and focused outside of work.
