After many Years, we said goodbye and good luck to one of our most valued team members, Mike Shephard!
I originally applied for a Head Door Supervisor role after relocating from my hometown of Brighton. During my initial conversation with Darwin, he quickly recognised that my experience aligned perfectly with a more senior opportunity and recommended me for an Area Manager position instead.
I began my journey with Professional Security as an Area Manager, responsible for overseeing operations across central London, including high-profile sites like Boxpark Wembley. It was an honour to manage security for some of the company’s biggest brand partners, ensuring smooth deployment and exceptional service delivery.
One of my first assignments was managing the deployment at Boxpark Wembley. It was a standout moment for me, not just because of the scale of the venue, but because Allesandro Nesta — one of my football idols — was in attendance that day. To say I had stage fright would be an understatement, but it’s a moment I’ll never forget.
My role evolved significantly over time. While I started as an Operations Manager, I soon found myself becoming a mentor and a trusted figure for many of the staff. I built strong relationships, supporting colleagues not just professionally but personally as well. I developed a deeper sense of self-confidence and belief in my abilities, and I credit Professional Security for giving me the platform to realise my potential.
There are many achievements I look back on with pride, but a few stand out. Managing one of the largest and most complex regions in the company — particularly during some challenging periods — and still achieving 100% deployment, was a major accomplishment. I also take great pride in leading the security operation at Boxpark, across Wembley, Shoreditch, and Croydon. Being entrusted with those venues was a privilege. Lastly, my personal growth — progressing from Area Manager to Operations Manager in just eight months — is a milestone that means a great deal to me.
