Our Recruitment Process

Your journey to joining Professional Security

Thinking about joining Professional Security?

Whether you’re applying for a Door Supervisor, Security Officer, event security or another role within our team, we want you to know what to expect.

Our recruitment process helps us get to know you, understand your experience and make sure you have everything you need to work safely and professionally with our clients.

The process usually takes around 2 weeks, although it can take a little longer during busy recruitment periods or while required checks are being completed.

Here’s what happens after you apply.

1. Apply for a role

Start by finding an opportunity that works for you and completing our online application.

We’ll ask for your basic contact details along with information relevant to the role, such as your location, SIA licence, security experience and availability.

Don’t have a CV? You can still apply.

If you have an up-to-date CV, we recommend uploading it as part of your application. It helps us quickly understand your experience and assess your suitability for the role.

Don’t have a CV ready? That’s absolutely fine. You can tell us about your relevant work experience directly within your application instead.

Whichever option you choose, make sure you provide either a CV or details of your work experience. This gives us the information we need to review your application and helps us progress it more quickly.

If you submit your application without a CV or details of your previous experience, we may not have enough information to assess your suitability straight away. Your application will need to be reviewed separately by a member of our local team, which means it may take longer to progress to the next stage.

For the quickest application journey:
Upload your CV or tell us about your relevant experience when you apply.

2. Complete your AI-enabled online interview

If your application progresses, we’ll invite you to complete an AI-enabled online interview.

The interview can be completed online at a time that works for you and gives you the opportunity to tell us more about yourself, your experience and why you’re interested in joining Professional Security.

We use AI-supported technology as part of this stage to help us review applications consistently and efficiently, particularly when we’re recruiting large numbers of people across the UK.

For customer-facing security roles, good communication is an important part of the job. The interview helps us understand your experience, suitability for the role and your ability to communicate clearly and confidently in English – something you’ll need when working with customers, venue teams and members of the public.

You have 7 days to complete your interview

Once your interview invitation is sent, your link will remain active for 7 days.

We recommend completing your interview as soon as possible. After 7 days, the link will expire. If you haven’t completed your interview by then, this may delay your application and progression to the next stage.

Keep an eye on your email and messages after applying so you don’t miss your invitation.

Before you start

You don’t need to prepare anything complicated. Find somewhere quiet, make sure you have a good internet connection and answer the questions naturally and honestly.

If you’re successful at this stage, you’ll progress to meeting a member of your local Professional Security operations team.

3. Meet your local team

If you’re successful at the online interview stage, you’ll be invited to meet a member of your local operations team, usually your Area Manager.

You’ll receive a link allowing you to book a suitable time for your face-to-face interview.

This is your opportunity to learn more about the work available in your area, discuss your availability and experience, and get to know the people you’ll be working with.

It’s also a chance to ask us questions about the role, venues, shifts or what it’s like to work with Professional Security.

4. Complete your screening and documentation

Security is a regulated industry, so there are important checks we need to complete before you can start working with us.

We’ll send you a secure link to provide the documentation required for your role.

Depending on the position, this may include:

  • Your SIA licence
  • Evidence of your Right to Work in the UK
  • Identification and supporting documentation
  • Information required to complete our screening and vetting checks

Our security screening is completed in line with the requirements applicable to your role, including BS7858 vetting where required.

Providing accurate information and completing requests promptly will help us progress your application as quickly as possible.

5. Get ready for your first shift

Once you’ve successfully completed the recruitment, screening and vetting process, our team can get you ready for work.

Your local operations team will talk you through the opportunities available in your area and the next steps for picking up shifts.

Depending on your role and location, you could be working across pubs, bars, restaurants, nightclubs, hotels, events and other venues supported by Professional Security.

Then it’s time to get started.

How long does the recruitment process take?

Our recruitment process will usually take around 2 weeks from application to completion.

Sometimes it can take a little longer, particularly during periods when we’re receiving a high volume of applications or where additional screening information is required.

You can help keep your application moving by:

  • Providing accurate contact information
  • Keeping an eye on your email and messages
  • Completing your online interview promptly
  • Attending your booked interview
  • Providing requested documents as soon as possible
  • Responding to any screening or vetting queries

We’ll guide you through the different stages and let you know when we need something from you.

What do I need before applying?

Requirements vary depending on the role you’re applying for.

For many of our frontline security positions, you’ll need a valid SIA licence appropriate to the role.

You’ll also need to be able to demonstrate your Right to Work in the UK and successfully complete the required screening and vetting process.

You don’t need to have a CV ready to start your application. If you don’t have one, simply tell us about your experience when you apply.
