What Will I Learn on the CCTV Course?

The course combines essential security-industry knowledge with specialist CCTV Operator training.

You’ll learn about:

  • Monitoring and responding to incidents

  • Recording and managing information and evidence

The qualification consists of 2 mandatory units: Principles of Working in the Private Security Industry and Principles and Practices of Working as a CCTV Operator in the Private Security Industry.

Who Is the CCTV Operator Course For?

This course is designed for anyone looking to work as a CCTV Operator within the private security industry, whether you’re starting your security career or looking to add CCTV to your existing qualifications.

You can take the qualification from age 16, although you must be 18 or over to apply for an SIA licence. You’ll also need sufficient English language skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening.

How Is the CCTV Course Assessed?

You’ll complete a combination of:

Multiple-choice examinations
Practical CCTV assessments
Short-answer questions

The practical elements are completed using CCTV equipment in a control-room or simulated control-room environment.
