Career Spotlight: Sara Zayed – From SOC Crew to Transformation & Delivery Specialist

This month, we highlight Sara Zayed’s Professional Security journey, showing how her curiosity for data and technology helped her grow from SOC Crew Member to Transformation & Delivery Specialist.

 

When did you first start at Professional Security, and what roles have you had up to this point?

I joined Professional Security in December 2021 as a SOC Crew Member.
In March 2023, I moved into the Solutions Champion (Team Leader) role, and a year later, in April 2024, I became Project Lead.

Now, I’m preparing to step into my new role as Transformation & Delivery Specialist on 3rd November 2025, a milestone I’m truly excited about.

What inspired you to explore data and technology at Professional Security?

When I joined the company, I was new to data and Excel. I started experimenting with formulas and functions to improve efficiency and I quickly became fascinated.

It amazed me how a few small inputs could transform long, repetitive tasks into simple automated processes. From that point, I continued to learn new tools and techniques every week.

So, when I discovered the Professional Security apprenticeship programme, I didn’t hesitate to apply. It gave me the chance to strengthen my technical skills and take my self-taught knowledge further.

How will your new role as Transformation & Delivery Specialist use your data skills?

My focus will be on improving systems and streamlining processes to make operations more efficient.
I’ll use data analysis to review performance and identify areas that need extra support.

During my apprenticeship, I developed strong Power BI skills. These tools will help me deliver smarter, data-led decisions that support future projects and business goals.

How has your apprenticeship supported your growth at Professional Security?

My apprenticeship focused heavily on data. Because of that, I could apply what I learned directly to my work, especially in the SOC team.

It allowed me to automate processes, improve reporting accuracy, and streamline daily operations.
The experience also built my confidence and helped me develop a strong professional identity. These skills have been essential in preparing for the Transformation & Delivery Specialist role.

What’s the most rewarding part of your role at Professional Security?

Without a doubt, it’s the data projects!
I enjoy designing tools that automate tasks and simplify workflows for the team.

It’s rewarding to see those systems in action and know they make everyday work smoother and faster. Watching my colleagues benefit from something I created always feels great.

What’s the best career advice you’ve received?

The best advice I’ve received is that everyone learns and works differently.
That simple reminder has taught me to stay flexible, open-minded, and understanding of others.

It’s also helped me grow as a leader by improving how I communicate and support my colleagues.

What might people be surprised to learn about your journey?

Many people are surprised to learn that I never went to university.
For me, that choice shows there’s no single route to success.

With determination, curiosity, and a willingness to learn, you can achieve incredible things, especially in a company that supports your growth.
