In Case You Missed It – September Round-Up

September brought a new football partnership, a return to one of the UK’s biggest running events and plenty to celebrate across our teams.

From partnering with Blackpool FC and supporting the AJ Bell Great North Run to achieving another +140 ACS score, recognising career progression and helping venue operators prepare for Martyn’s Law, here are five stories you might have missed from Professional Security this month.

1. Partnering with Blackpool FC for the 2026/27 Season

This September, we were delighted to announce our partnership with Blackpool FC for the 2026/27 season, marking another step in the growth of our stadium and events security services.

Working alongside the club at Bloomfield Road, our teams will help supporters feel safe, welcome and ready to enjoy the game. Matchday security plays an important role in that experience, supporting the club’s operations while providing an approachable presence for fans and visitors.

We’re looking forward to getting to know the team at Blackpool FC, building a strong working relationship and becoming part of the matchday experience.!

2. Supporting the AJ Bell Great North Run

Professional Security returned to the AJ Bell Great North Run with 29 staff, continuing a relationship with the event that began in 2015.

From the elite runners on the course to the celebrations at the finish line, our deployment supported several different parts of the event:

  • The finish line
  • Press tents and stands
  • VIP hospitality
  • Elite runners’ tents
  • The field hospital
  • On-course close protection

Each area required an understanding of the people using it, alongside coordination and close working with the organisers. Our colleagues helped support runners, spectators, media and event personnel throughout the deployment.

For many participants, the Great North Run represents months of preparation, a personal challenge or an opportunity to raise money for a cause close to their hearts. After more than a decade working with the event, we’re proud to continue playing our part.

Thank you to our colleagues for their hard work, and congratulations to everyone who took on the challenge.

3. Achieving a +140 ACS Score for a Second Consecutive Year

Last year, we celebrated +140. This year, we achieved it again.

Professional Security secured +140 in its latest Security Industry Authority (SIA) Approved Contractor Scheme assessment, retaining approval for Door Supervision, Security Guarding and Close Protection.

The ACS is a voluntary quality assurance scheme that examines how a security business operates, including staff training, financial management and health and safety. It gives clients an insight into the organisation behind the security professionals they see on site.

This year’s assessment included visits to London, Liverpool and York, giving our frontline and management teams across three regions the opportunity to demonstrate their work in practice.

Maintaining this result takes continued effort across the business. As part of Fullerton Group, we’re proud to contribute to a shared commitment to raising standards, supported by colleagues who put those standards into practice every day.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the assessment and to our teams for their ongoing work for our clients and communities.

4. Celebrating Career Progression Across Our Businesses

September also brought new opportunities for colleagues at Professional Security and across Fullerton Group.

Nickerson Da Silva and Steven Rose: Operations Managers

Nickerson Da Silva and Steven Rose have both been promoted from Area Manager to Operations Manager at Professional Security.

Nickerson, who joined us in 2021, will oversee the East Midlands and Home Counties. Steven, who has been with the business for more than two years, takes on responsibility for London & the South.

Both bring valuable regional experience to their new positions and will continue working closely with our operational teams and clients.

Nick Gilling: Business Development Manager at Fullerton Group

Nick Gilling has moved into the role of Business Development Manager at Fullerton Group.

Nick started with Professional Security nearly four years ago as a Door Supervisor before moving into business development in January 2024. He will now take that experience across the Group’s operating companies, developing new opportunities and strengthening client relationships.

His progression shows how experience gained on the frontline can support a career in other areas of the business.

Paige Jackson: Social Media Executive

We’re also celebrating Paige Jackson, who has officially passed her Multi-channel Marketing apprenticeship after two years with the business.

Now a qualified multi-channel marketer, Paige will become Social Media Executive for the wider Group, bringing her creativity and knowledge of our businesses to our social channels.

Her role will help showcase our colleagues, share our brands’ stories and connect with clients, prospective employees and the wider industry.

Congratulations to Nickerson, Steven, Nick and Paige on their achievements and new roles.

5. Helping Venue Operators Prepare for Martyn’s Law

Our Martyn’s Law information hub remains a useful starting point for venue operators and event organisers reviewing their preparedness.

The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 will introduce duties for qualifying premises and events to improve public protection and preparedness for terrorist incidents.

Home Office statutory guidance is now available, helping organisations understand whether they fall within scope and what their duties will involve. The SIA’s current guidance states that the Act is expected to come into force in spring 2027, with the exact date to be confirmed.

The preparation period gives organisations an opportunity to review their existing arrangements, identify who is responsible and consider how staff would carry out emergency procedures.

Our hub includes:

  • Explanations of the standard and enhanced tiers
  • Frequently asked questions
  • Links to official guidance
  • A downloadable Martyn’s Law Readiness Checklist
  • Information about how security teams can support preparedness

It also explains the distinction between operational support and legal accountability: security teams can help deliver agreed arrangements, while responsibility under the Act remains with the Responsible Person.

Looking Ahead to October

As we move into October, we’re looking forward to developing our new partnerships, supporting colleagues in their new roles and continuing our work with clients across the UK and Ireland
