In Case You Missed It – October Round-Up

A partnership spanning 18 venues, a new chapter for The Ivy in Glasgow and a celebration nearly 21 years in the making. October gave us plenty to share at Professional Security.

Alongside new client developments, we launched guidance on digital proof of age, recognised outstanding colleagues and joined hospitality partners to celebrate the people supporting the industry.

Here are five highlights from the month.

Welcoming Arc Inspirations Across 18 Venues

October marked the beginning of a significant partnership with Arc Inspirations, with Professional Security providing security across 18 venues within its BOX, Manahatta and Banyan brands.

For a hospitality business, bringing a new security partner into its venues means placing trust in the people who will welcome guests, work alongside its teams and represent its standards. We’re proud to have earned that trust.

Launching across 18 locations also takes a considerable shared effort. Our operational and office teams worked together on the mobilisation, while frontline colleagues brought those preparations to life on the ground.

Ben Knott, Managing Director North, acknowledged the confidence Anni and Martin have placed in Professional Security and thanked them for choosing us to support their venues.

As the relationship develops, our focus is on understanding each venue, building strong working relationships with its team and helping guests enjoy the experience they came for.

Helping Venues Navigate Digital Proof of Age

A change to age verification prompted an important conversation with our hospitality clients this October: what would introducing digital proof of age mean in practice?

Since 15 September 2026, licensed premises in England and Wales have had the option to accept certified digital proof of age for alcohol checks. Adoption is voluntary, and businesses can continue using physical ID.

Our October campaign focused on helping operators understand the practical decisions behind that choice. Before introducing digital checks, venues need to consider their verification system, the equipment staff will use and how the process will work during service.

Consistency matters. Venue management, bar staff and door teams need to understand the same policy, with clear instructions for customers and an agreed approach when a digital check cannot be completed. A photograph of a passport or driving licence is not a substitute for a compliant digital verification process.

Our guide brings these considerations together, giving clients a starting point for discussions with their operations contact and helping teams prepare before making changes at the door.

Supporting The Ivy Glasgow’s Next Chapter

The Ivy Glasgow Brasserie welcomed guests to its new home at St Vincent Place on 20 October, moving into the historic former City of Glasgow Bank building. The opening brought a fresh chapter for an established restaurant, with an impressive setting at the heart of the experience.

Already supporting multiple Ivy restaurants across the UK, Professional Security was pleased to continue that relationship in Glasgow.

Ahead of the opening, Mark Boyd, Jordan Johnston and Ryan McHenry worked closely with the restaurant team on preparations, helping ensure our colleagues were ready for the first guests.

Restaurant security requires an understanding of the setting and the service guests expect. An approachable welcome, attentive colleagues and close communication with the restaurant team all contribute to an experience that feels reassuring from arrival onwards.

Thank you to everyone involved in the preparations, and congratulations to The Ivy Glasgow team on its new home.

Recognising the People Behind Our Service

Some of October’s most memorable moments were opportunities to pause and thank colleagues whose commitment has made a lasting difference.

Nearly 21 years of service from Mo Maroof

A meeting at LA Fitness almost 21 years ago led to David Fullerton recruiting Mo Maroof. It became the start of a working relationship that has continued ever since.

This October, David joined Mo, Ben Levick and Dan Chenery for an evening recognising that extraordinary commitment. Throughout his uninterrupted service, Mo has only ever worked on a door for Professional Security, including 20 consecutive New Year’s Eves.

That is a remarkable amount of experience, and a personal connection to the business stretching back to its early days. The evening offered a chance to share memories and give Mo the recognition he deserves for his part in our story.

An Exceptional Person Award for Nicholas Clarke

We also celebrated Head Door Supervisor Nicholas Clarke, who received an Exceptional Person Award for his work at Carousel & Home in Leeds.

Nicholas has supported the venue since its opening in March 2023, earning consistently positive client feedback and becoming a valued member of the team. Area Manager Adeel Zaman presented the award in recognition of that sustained contribution.

Both celebrations highlight the importance of recognising the people who build trust over time through their professionalism, relationships and care for the venues they support.

Coming Together for Hospitality

October also took our colleagues to two industry events celebrating hospitality and the organisations supporting its people.

Licensed Trade Charity Awards Dinner

Nick Gilling and Steven Rose attended the Licensed Trade Charity’s annual Awards Dinner in London on 1 October, joining an evening dedicated to recognising wellbeing champions across licensed hospitality.

As partners of the charity, we were pleased to contribute both as guests and through the six Professional Security colleagues deployed to support the event.

The charity’s work has a close connection to the industry our teams serve every day. Behind every venue are people managing demanding roles, and access to practical advice, wellbeing support and financial assistance can make a meaningful difference when difficulties arise.

BBPA Annual Dinner

Ben Knott, Managing Director North, and Luke Adams, Managing Director South, also attended the British Beer & Pub Association’s Annual Dinner at Lindley Hall in London on 14 October.

The evening brought together the beer and pub sector to celebrate achievements and raise funds for Pub is The Hub and Only A Pavement Away. More than £16,000 was raised for the two organisations, supporting their work in communities and helping people build routes into hospitality employment.

Our security colleagues were also on duty, supporting the event while Ben and Luke caught up with clients and industry contacts.

Thank you to the teams representing Professional Security at both occasions, and congratulations to the organisers and award winners.

Looking Ahead to November

With the festive season approaching, our attention turns to supporting clients through Christmas parties, busy event calendars and New Year’s Eve preparations.

If you’re still finalising security arrangements for an upcoming event, speak to our team. Starting the conversation now gives us time to understand your plans and work through your requirements together.

Thank you to our colleagues, clients and partners for everything you contributed throughout October.
