Providing Event Security and Stewarding at the British Grand Prix

Every successful major sporting event relies on far more than what spectators see on the day. Behind every packed grandstand, bustling fan zone and busy access point is a dedicated team working together to keep visitors safe and operations running smoothly.

This year’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone was no exception.

From Wednesday 1 July through to Sunday 5 July, Professional Security was proud to support the Silverstone operations team, providing experienced SIA Door Supervisors and Safety Stewards throughout the build phase and race weekend at one of the UK’s largest sporting events.

Delivering Event Security at One of the UK’s Largest Sporting Events

Hosting hundreds of thousands of visitors requires meticulous planning, experienced personnel and close collaboration between multiple teams.

Throughout the event, our officers worked as an extension of the Silverstone operations team, helping deliver a safe, secure and welcoming environment for spectators, contractors, teams and VIP guests.

Led by Event Manager Becky Pickles, Professional Security deployed 45 SIA Door Supervisors and Safety Stewards, delivering more than 1,600+ security hours across the circuit, alongside additional security support at the Silverstone Museum.

Our responsibilities included:

  • Access control and accreditation
  • Event stewarding
  • Crowd management
  • Vehicle movement management
  • Overnight asset protection
  • Fan Zone security
  • Pit lane access control
  • Supporting venue operations throughout the build and race weekend

Every role played an important part in ensuring the event ran safely, efficiently and in line with Silverstone’s exceptionally high operational standards.

Recognising Outstanding Team Members

Large-scale event security is built on teamwork, but it’s always fantastic to see individuals recognised for going above and beyond.

Richard Gurr was recognised by the Silverstone team for his outstanding work managing vehicle movements around the Ring Road, helping maintain a safe and efficient flow of traffic throughout the event.

Shaun Baker was nominated for an award after demonstrating exceptional commitment, including supporting the operation beyond the end of his shift when additional assistance was required.

It was also fantastic to see Jack Bailey continue his journey with Professional Security. After completing his Level 2 Spectator Safety qualification with us earlier this year, Jack secured a key position within the pit lane, managing accreditation and access control between the Ferrari and Red Bull garages – an experience few event security professionals have the opportunity to be part of.

Elsewhere across the circuit, Dave and Kyle Menday supported the busy Fan Zone, Reginold Deepati joined the team following another major sporting event to assist with the build phase and overnight operations at the British Racing Drivers’ Club, while Dauwood Hussain provided overnight asset protection at The Wing. Ugur Soysal was also recognised for his professionalism and commitment throughout the event.

More Than Security

Security at major sporting events extends far beyond simply managing entrances or responding to incidents.

Successful event security is about becoming part of the wider event operation; working collaboratively with venue teams, event organisers and other stakeholders to create an environment where spectators feel safe, staff feel supported and the event can operate seamlessly.

That collaborative approach is something we’re incredibly proud of and reflects how Professional Security delivers every event, regardless of size or complexity.
