August was another busy month for Professional Security, with our teams supporting major sporting and community events, strengthening client partnerships and celebrating the people who make a difference every day.

From the British Grand Prix MotoGP™ and preparations for our third year at Competitive Socialising: The Power of Play™ to Clitheroe Food Festival, community safety initiatives and colleague recognition with Whole Foods Market, here are five of our biggest stories from August.

Supporting the British Grand Prix MotoGP™ at Silverstone

From race-day retail to the edge of the paddock, our team supported several very different areas during the British Grand Prix MotoGP™ at Silverstone.

Our deployment included:

  • Guarding the Castore Megastore and supporting customers throughout the weekend
  • Providing additional security within the Silverstone Museum through active patrols, bag searches and customer service
  • Supporting The Wing with access control to key paddock and VIP areas, alongside regular patrols

Each location required a different approach, but the priority remained the same: supporting the wider Silverstone operation and helping visitors enjoy a safe, welcoming and well-managed experience.

A special mention must go to Ugur Soyal, who received a Silverstone Fan First Hero award for his work across the weekend. Ugur was recognised as a helpful and proactive member of the team who regularly stepped beyond his assigned role to support the wider operation.

At an event where speed makes the headlines, it is the people working behind the scenes who help keep everything moving safely and smoothly. Congratulations, Ugur, and thank you to everyone who represented Professional Security throughout the weekend.

Returning to Competitive Socialising: The Power of Play™ for a Third Year

For the third year running, Professional Security will return to Competitive Socialising: The Power of Play™, taking place on Tuesday 15 September 2026 at Lighthouse Theatre, Camberwell, London.

During the day, we will be exhibiting at the conference and showcasing how our guest-first approach to security supports more than 100 competitive socialising venues across the UK. Behind the scenes, our teams will also be delivering security throughout the conference and into the Competitive Socialising Awards that evening, helping to protect the atmosphere from start to finish.

The event is expected to bring together more than 1,000 operators, suppliers and innovators to explore the future of one of hospitality’s fastest-moving sectors. We are proud to be working alongside Inntegra™ once again and look forward to meeting the people and brands shaping the future of competitive socialising.

This year, we have also given our stand its own competitive socialising twist, so visitors can expect something a little different from the usual security exhibition setup.

The evening’s Competitive Socialising Awards will celebrate some of the industry’s leading operators, and we are delighted to see several of our clients among this year’s finalists, including Roxy Leisure Ltd – Roxy Ball Room & Roxy Lanes and Pins Leisure Ltd – King Pins & Star Pins

A huge congratulations to these. We will be cheering them on while helping to keep the celebrations safe and running smoothly.

Supporting Clitheroe Food Festival

August also saw our team support Clitheroe Food Festival, where more than 25,000 visitors came together to celebrate local and award-winning food and drink producers.

Our 20-strong team adopted a more relaxed, no-tie uniform at the organiser’s request, while maintaining the visible presence and professional standards expected throughout the event.

It was a simple but important example of how effective security adapts to the client, the setting and the experience they want to create. For a busy community event like Clitheroe Food Festival, the aim was not to dominate the environment, but to provide a reassuring, approachable presence that supported organisers, traders and visitors throughout the day.

Thank you to every colleague who helped make the festival safe, welcoming and enjoyable for the local community.

Strengthening Community Safety with Coventry BID

This month, we highlighted how our work with Coventry BID extends far beyond providing a visible presence in the city centre.

Coventry BID Street Patrol officers joined West Midlands Police for Operation Vigilant, a proactive evening focused on protecting the public and supporting Coventry’s night-time economy.

While undercover police officers carried out Ask for Angela visits at venues across the city, our team supported local businesses, maintained a reassuring presence and looked out for anyone who appeared vulnerable or in need of assistance.

As part of the Safer Streets Summer Town Centre Initiative, our officers also completed Naloxone training alongside the West Orchards Shopping Centre security team. Delivered by Change Grow Live, the training provided attendees with the knowledge and confidence to recognise a suspected opioid overdose and safely administer Naloxone while awaiting the emergency services.

From proactive patrols and partnership operations to intelligence sharing and potentially lifesaving training, this work demonstrates the wider role security professionals can play in protecting communities and supporting safer town and city centres.

Recognising Great People with Whole Foods Market

At Professional Security, we believe strong partnerships should recognise the people delivering exceptional service every day.

In August, we launched a new monthly Reward and Recognition award with Whole Foods Market, celebrating security colleagues whose contribution makes a genuine difference across its stores.

Our first recipients were Ozgur Bektas and Islam “Taz”, who were recognised for their consistency, professionalism, sound judgement and proactive support. Both received a certificate and a £25 Whole Foods Market gift voucher, presented by colleagues from Professional Security and Whole Foods Market.

The award reflects what a strong client partnership should look like: working together, valuing the people delivering the service and ensuring exceptional performance is properly recognised. It also reinforces something we believe strongly  the best security teams are not simply deployed into a location; they become an extension of the client’s own team.

Congratulations to Ozgur and Taz on being the first recipients, and we look forward to celebrating more outstanding colleagues through the programme in the months ahead.

Looking Ahead

September begins with one of the most significant developments in Professional Security’s history: our expansion across Ireland.

By bringing together experienced local leadership, locally recruited teams and established operational expertise, we can support clients across hospitality, retail, leisure, commercial premises, major events and stadia in both the UK and Ireland.

The month ahead will also see the continued rollout of the new Premier League season and another busy programme of hospitality, retail and major-event delivery across the UK and Ireland.
