Martyn’s Law: Helping Businesses Prepare for Change

This month, we launched a dedicated information hub covering one of the most significant changes to UK public safety legislation in recent years: Martyn’s Law.

Officially known as the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act, Martyn’s Law is expected to come into force in 2027 and will introduce new responsibilities for certain premises and and events across the UK.

Our hub explains what the legislation means, who it may apply to and the practical steps businesses can take now to begin preparing. While the legal responsibility remains with the Responsible Person, security providers will play an important role in supporting organisations as they review their procedures, training and preparedness plans.

Supporting UK venues through the World’s Biggest Football Tournament

This summer, football once again captured the nation’s attention as supporters gathered in pubs, bars, fan zones and live sport venues across the UK to watch the FIFA World Cup 2026.

As venues prepared for increased footfall, packed fixtures and extended opening hours, Professional Security delivered the largest nationwide hospitality security operation in our history.

More than 3,600 security professionals supported venues across England, Scotland and Wales, delivering:

  • 49,098 shifts
  • 335,395 hours of security support

From the England and Scotland fixtures through to the semi-finals and final, our teams helped venues safely bring the excitement of the World Cup to communities across the country.

Whether supporting a local pub screening the match or a busy city-centre hospitality destination, our security professionals managed queues, maintained a reassuring presence and worked alongside venue teams to help create safe, welcoming environments for supporters.

The scale of the operation demonstrated the flexibility and nationwide capability of our teams, alongside the commitment of every security professional, operational colleague and Fullerton Group Support team involved in making it possible.

Delivering Security at the British Grand Prix

July also saw our teams supporting one of the UK’s most iconic sporting events: the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

With more than 564,000 spectators attending across the race weekend, delivering an event of this scale relies on seamless collaboration behind the scenes. Working as an extension of the Silverstone security operation, our SIA Door Supervisors and Safety Stewards supported a range of critical functions, helping to deliver a safe, secure and welcoming experience for visitors throughout the event.

From the build phase through to race day, our teams demonstrated the professionalism, flexibility and operational excellence that our clients rely on, once again showcasing Professional Security’s capability to support some of the UK’s largest and most prestigious sporting events.

The 2026/27 Premier League season is just around the corner, with the first friendly fixtures taking place at Elland Road in August.

As Elland Road’s matchday security partner, Professional Security is proud to be preparing for another exciting season – working closely with the stadium team to help deliver safe, welcoming and memorable matchdays for supporters.
